Visa Application
Our counselors will assist you through the
entire visa process. During this process we may even conduct some mock
interviews to make you more comfortable with the interview process.
In an era of increasing security concerns, Australia’s
student visa system is also attracting interest from those concerned with
achieving a balance between strong international education sector and
immigration integrity. Australia’s system is open, transparent, efficient and based on
risk-management principles. A state-of-the-art, web based
confirmation-of-enrolment system assists with the monitoring of student
attendance and contributes to the integrity of the student visa system.
International students must have a valid
student visa for the duration of their studies in Australia.
You will only be issued with a student visa for study in Australia
if you seek to undertake a full-time course that is accredited and registered
by the Australian Government.
Application
Process
At this stage we help you fill in the
Application form for a Student (Temporary) Visa.
As part of the visa application process you
will also be asked to have a medical examination. All students must also show
evidence that they have health insurance cover before a visa can be issued. In
most cases you can pay the compulsory medical insurance (Overseas Student
Health Cover, or OSHC for short) premium to the education institution which
will pay the health insurer on your behalf.
The time-frame of visa assessment depends on
the time of the year and the number of application lodged for assessment. Generally speaking students are advised
to lodge their applications 3 months
before the course commencement date - but no less than 8 weeks before the
course commencement date.
Receiving your visa
If your application is successful you will
be issued with a Multiple Entry Visa allowing you to travel backwards and
forwards to Australia within the period for which the visa has been granted. That period
will depend on the course for which you have been accepted.
Student Visa Rules and Regulations
Your Australian Student Visa has a number of important rules that you need to
adhere to while you study in Australia.
Remember, it has been issued to you so that you can advance your educational
qualifications. The key rules for international students to remember are:
-you are required to study full-time in Australia;
-you must attend at least 80 percent of all
your scheduled classes to maintain a valid enrolment (education institutions
are required by law to maintain attendance);
-you must advise the Department of
Immigration And Citizenship of any change in your address in Australia, or any
change in your student status, or any transfer to another educational
institution or if you withdraw from the course that you are enrolled in;
-do not work more than 20 hours per week
during your semester studies; and
-you must extend your student visa before it expires if you are intending to
stay in Australia after that expiry date.
Please remember that any breach of the
Australian Student Visa conditions will result in its cancellation and your
departure from Australia.
