Q: I am
interested in studying in Australia. What do I do next?

The quickest and the easiest way is to call or come and see our experienced

Q: When should I apply?
A:
Your application should be submitted as early as possible before the beginning
of the semester in which you wish to commence. The closing dates are early
December for semester 1 and early June for semester 2. These dates are intended
as a guide only for tertiary institutions. The English schools and high schools
have different intake and vary from school to school. There are also options of
winter and summer school commencement.
Q: What are the fees for IAEC's counseling services?
A:
None! All of our services are provided at no charge to you!
Q: Can I apply for
credit exemption?
A:
Most of the universities would recognize the value of prior studies and in many
cases will grant credit for previous studies. If you wish to apply for credit
transfer or advanced standing for your previous studies, you should complete
the "University Credit exemption" form or the relevant section of the
International Student Admission Application form. Please ensure that you send
certified copies of the required documentation with your application form as
part of the enrolment process. If you are awarded credit, you must still be
enrolled in full-time study, as a condition of your student visa.
Q: What does the OSHC
health insurance cover?
A:
All students are required to purchase Australian Overseas Student Health Cover
insurance in order to get a visa. This insurance covers you 100% for all
hospital visits and 85% for doctor's fees. It also provides you with a
24-hourtoll free telephone service for emergency and legal advice. Some
prescription coverage is also included.
Q: What is an e-COE?
A: e-COE
stands for "Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment ". This is a
document issued by the Australian university that states that you are enrolled
as a student. This document is required by the Australian government in order
to issue your student visa.
Q: What
sort of documents do I need to submit when applying for student visa?
A:
These are the essential documents you should have when applying for student
visa:
· A copy of the electronic "Confirmation of
Enrolment as an Overseas Student" eCoE letter/PVA
· Your passport
· Evidence of Overseas Student Health
Cover (OSHC) payment
· Attendance certificate of your last course or
evidence you have successfully completed your last course
· Evidence that you have sufficient funds to
support yourself for the duration of your course of study
Q: Can I work in Australia?
A:
Under current legislation students are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week
during academic semesters and full-time (unlimited hours) during vacation
periods.
Q. How much
does it cost to study in Australia?
The approximate annual tuition fees are as under:
Diploma AUD $8000-10,000/year Bachelors Degree (App) AUD $12,500-14000/year
Masters Program AUD $11,000-15000/year.
Q: Cost of living and
tuition fees
A:
The living cost varies from student to student depending on their lifestyle and
state preferences. As a guide, the estimated annual cost of living for a
student is approximately AU$9,000 – AU$12,000. Please be reminded that this is
intended to be used as a guide only when preparing a budget.
Q: Do I
need a medical exam before going to Australia or re-new my student visa?
A:
In either case, you need to have a physical exam and a chest x-ray if your
program in Australia
is over 12 months in length.
Q.
Will you get me financial aid or scholarship?
A. There is very limited financial aid for
international students in Australia.
There are very few scholarships offered by some universities/government but
they are very competitive. We do not have a standard list of available
scholarships. You will have to research the individual university websites for
this information.
Q. Can I get a job in Australia
after finishing my education?
A. It is possible if you perform well in
your program and in your job interviews. Going by the past statistics, some
Indian students have managed to find jobs and have stayed back after completion
of their education. However, there is no guarantee.
Q. How many years will my
student visa be valid?
A. You will get a visa for the duration of
the program. There is usually no extra time granted. On completion of the
program, you are expected to leave the country within 28 days. If you wish to
stay longer you must seek approval from the Department of Immigration,
Multicultural & Indigenous Affairs.
Q.
Can my husband/wife/spouse work while I study?
A. Dependents of postgraduate - Master and
Doctorate Students, who hold Visa Subclass 574, can work full-time after the
student has commenced his or her course in Australia.
Q. I have taken TOEFL.
Is IELTS compulsory?
A. YES. Irrespective of the medium of
instruction in your previous school, you have to take IELTS. Even if you have
already taken TOEFL, you have to take IELTS. This is compulsory requirement for
the student visa for applicants from India.
